Danny Smith

President

Danny Smith has helped thousands of families get their loved ones into treatment over the past 12 years, and founded Alchemy Consulting Group in 2013. His mission is to help those suffering from addiction and mental illness find relief in treatment and forge a new life of recovery.

Danny’s broad experience in the recovery world includes a strong background in Intervention, Admissions and Care Management. Years of experience in these areas have contributed to his creative approach to the intervention process, utilizing various methods and modalities. Danny’s adaptable process of intervention paired with his significant relationships within the treatment community allow him to develop highly individualized intervention and care management strategies. His dedication to and compassion for the clients and families he serves is the driving force behind Alchemy Consulting Group.

Danny holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Southern California and is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC) and Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS).

Barrett Weir

Vice President

Barrett Weir is a certified alcohol a drug counselor who has worked in the substance abuse and mental health field for 14 years. He is passionate about helping those who are struggling. Barrett brings excitement for recovery and helping those who desire to make a life altering change. His calming presence, patience and compassionate spirit is an asset to de-escalate difficult situations.

Barrett’s background working with individuals, families, and other professionals to help those who are in crisis and newly in recovery is tremendously valuable to assess the best treatment placement and care management resourcing.

Barrett worked for many years in counseling and admissions at some of the most renowned treatment programs in the country and was the Admissions Director of a 97 bed facility with four programs. He has an expertise in maintaining a concierge level of customer service, driving organizational performance and creating effective systems.

Advisory Board

Dirk Eldredge

Dirk lives a purposeful and passionate life in recovery. He is the founder and former CEO of Surrender Interventions and CO Founder of Alchemy Interventions; both based in Los Angeles, CA., Dirk is now the CEO of Jaywalker Lodge a long term treatment center in Colorado for men. As CEO of Dirk oversees all aspects of Jaywalker’s administrative, clinical, and financial operations at Jaywalker; as well as supervising the marketing, admissions and alumni functions.

“My journey has been an awesome adventure, and Jaywalker represents an exciting new chapter for me,” says Dirk. He has recently completed a four-year stint as Life Coach with the 2014 Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. “Being a part of a world championship organization has been the thrill of a lifetime; and now I am excited to join Jaywalker’s team in a role where my experience will be of service to our amazing staff, clients and families.”

Dirk graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Political Science and, more recently, from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Drug and Alcohol Counseling. He holds a CADC-I certification, as well as credentials as a Board Registered Interventionist and Certified Intervention Specialist.

Charles W. Smith

Since 2001, Charles W. Smith has been the Executive Director and Secretary of the George Hoag Family Foundation. The Foundation is a private, non-profit, public benefit corporation engaged in charitable endeavors that support community healthcare programs and social service programs. Prior to Mr. Smith’s association with the Hoag Family Foundation, he was CEO and Chairman of Allied Supply Company. Allied Supply was a West Coast industrial piping distributor primarily focused in supporting the petro-chemical, OEM, refining and pipeline industries.

Mr. Smith is currently serving on the Board of Advisors of the UCLA Medical Center – Santa Monica and served four years as Chairman. In addition, he sits on the Board of Directors of OPCC (Ocean Park Community Center). Since 1997, Mr. Smith has served as a Director of the George Hoag Family Foundation. He holds a B.A. from the University of Southern California. Mr. Smith is a former member of the Golden West Chapter of Young Presidents Organization, as well as, a past member of the Board of Governors of USC.

Mr. Smith lives in Santa Monica with his wife, Melinda H. Smith and they have three grown sons and six grandchildren. Mr. Smith is a member and Elder of Brentwood Presbyterian Church, as well as, a member of Los Angeles Country Club and Bel-Air Bay Club.

Steven Hauck

Steve Hauck has served as a chief executive officer of a number of firms over the period of nearly 40 years. He is also an experienced corporate advisor in the areas of corporate turnaround, financing, and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Hauck was Vice President and Director of Marketing for Citibank from 1975 to 1981 and a Managing Partner for Prince & Company from 1981 to 1984. Mr. Hauck served as President of the following companies: Direct Delivery Systems, Inc. from 1984 to 1991; Welsh Graphics from 1991 to 1993; Aquarium Supply Unlimited, Inc. from 1993 to 1996; Velie Circuits from 1996 to 1997; and Roger’s Bindery from 1997 to 1998.

Mr. Hauck’s business career spans a variety of industries including manufacturing, banking, distribution, commercial printing, high technology, transportation, real estate, retail, software development, plastics and digital special effects for TV and motion picture.

Mr. Hauck currently serves on the board of advisors for Command Packaging Inc., Lattis Networks, Coast To Coast Financial Solutions, Inc. and The Shadden Group. Mr. Hauck was a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization from 1984 until 1998 and served as Chapter Chairman from 1997 to 1998 and is a lifetime member of the World Presidents’ Organization.
